About Anangana

4 May 2010

Anangana was a Ranger who died in action when a militia group attacked the Nyaleke patrol post, which lies 10km east of Beni. Anangana was 55 and had served the park for 30 years. He was due to retire two weeks later.

The attack that killed Anangana left another Ranger very severely wounded. He took two bullet wounds to his abdomen and was hit so hard in the face with a machete that his lower jaw was broken.
